Trusting CASE Becomes A Family Tradition

“I grew up driving and working on my grandfather’s Case machines and I’ve just stayed with them. All up I’ve had about a half dozen machines, all Case, and the CX145C Excavator is the latest addition.”

Steve Cox – S&JC Plant Hire

Having started out driving the Case machines his grandfather used on the family farm in the 70s, there was simply no other choice for Steve Cox when he started S&JC Plant Hire in 1998. When Steve Cox set up S&JC Plant Hire, he had one second hand Case machine, working mainly on road construction jobs.

Since then, Steve has successfully grown his company and his complement of Case equipment, with S&JC now having been engaged for several years as a trusted contractor for leading companies on the M80 Ring Road Upgrade in Melbourne.

The $2.25 billion, 5 year upgrade is improving the 38 kilometre M80 Ring Road, which extends from the Princes Freeway at Laverton North to the Greensborough Highway at Greensborough, and S&JC has been working on installation of the Intelligent Transport System (ITS) for the upgrade, including conduit installation and cabinet foundations and also concrete footings for the ITS.

Trusted to deliver by the companies who’ve engaged S&JC’s services, Steve’s six-strong team has been ably supported by his trusted fleet of four Case machines which comprises two 580SR Backhoes, a CX80 Excavator and the newest purchase – a Case CX145C Excavator.

“I grew up driving and working on my grandfather’s Case machines and I’ve just stayed with them,” Steve said. “All up I’ve had about a half dozen machines, all Case, and the CX145C Excavator is the latest addition.”

“It’s twice as big as the last machines we bought, which means greater productivity and more options for contracting on a greater range of jobs.

“It’s also a lot quicker in digging and has a larger lifting capacity for heavier objects, so it gives us more versatility in what we can do which is good for us now and into the future,” he added. “The CX145C is a great machine and we’re very happy with it.

TRUSTED SUPPORT AND RELIABILITY

Along with the performance of his Case fleet and particularly his new CX145C, Steve is also extremely happy with the service and support he has received from Case Victoria’s Area Manager, Jason Cruise.

“I’ve bought four machines from Jason at Case in Dandenong and the support has been really good,” Steve said. “If there’s any issue, Case always responds quickly and you also have quick access to spares when you need them.

“Mind you, the machines are very reliable so there aren’t many issues,” he added. “The 580SR Backhoe I bought in 2004 has been working up to 10 hours a day, every day, for almost ten years now .

“Business is going very well and our Case equipment is a big part of that, so as needs arise I’ll definitely purchase more Case equipment in the future,” Steve concluded.

Like many other Case customers, Steve Cox has been won over by the performance of the Case CX145C Excavator and the many benefits it offers.
